chiron is a comet in our solar system between saturn and uranus.
named after a centaur in greek mythology who was widely regarded as a healer, teacher, and wiseman. his death came at the hands of hercules; it was an accident, (allegedly). chiron was hit with a poison arrow, and despite his immense knowledge of herbs and tinctures, he was unable to heal himself.
